How to root Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300)

One of the main benefits of owning any Android smartphone is flexibility. Android devices offer amazing customization options and allow savvy users to tailor things so that their smartphone is like an extension of their arm.

The one drawback is that, more often than not, you have to have a rooted phone before you can make any major changes to your device.

Thankfully rooting isn't the arduous, risky business it used to be and we're going to walk you through the very simple steps needed to become a superuser on your device.

NOTE -
Rooting isn't as risky as it once was, but the procedure does still carry risks. Your device may malfunction if the following steps aren't carried out correctly, and it may even stop working altogether. Do bear this in mind before continuing, because we won't be held responsible for any damage to your device.
Be aware that rooting an android device will make it warranty void. The device should be unrooted to regain warranty.

Before You Begin:
  • Make sure that your device is a Samsung GT-I9300
  • To check your model no. Go to Menu --> Settings --> About Device. And check the model no. of your device.
  • Download the Odin 3.07. and install it on your pc.
  • Download CF-Auto Root.zip and unzip the file and place the resulting .tar file somewhere memorable, , we recommend your desktop.
  • Do not plug your Samsung Galaxy S3 into your computer yet
Steps to root the device:
  1. Open ODIN. Click the button marked ‘PDA'.
  2. Choose the .tar file you unzipped earlier.
  3. Power off your smartphone now and then boot it into Download Mode. This can be done by pressing ‘volume down’, ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ buttons simultaneously. Confirm that you want to boot the Download Mode.
  4. Once you've done that, plug your device into your computer.
  5. Before you continue, make sure ‘Repartition' isn't ticked.
  6. Don’t change any default settings of Odin and when you’re ready you should click the Start button.
  7. Wait until the root is complete and that will happen when your SGS3 will reboot.
  8. Odin will say ‘PASS’ and when the phone shows the boot animation logo you can unplug it from PC.
  9. These are all the steps that you had to take and now you should use the Root Checker app from Google Play Store. Use this app to confirm that the root files have been pushed to your phone.
There you have It! Galaxy S3 Rooted......
